Moncalaise

Property Ref. MCL  806002   Homeaway Link

Description

Villa Moncalaise is located just above and a short walk to the medieval village of Fayence close to the beaches of Cannes and Frejus. It is south–west facing with beautiful views from the garden and pool area toward the Esterel Mountains. You will be able to pop down to the bakery for the fresh croissants in the morning and enjoy a glass of wine with dinner at one of the numerous good restaurants without having to drive home. The popular village market in the Place de l’Église in front of the 18th century church is open three times a week and gives the village a very special atmosphere.

The kidney-shaped pool is situated on the summit of the garden affording fantastic views. There is a large floodlit garden and the property is very private despite the fact that it is right in the village.

The house has two bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms and it has a large partly covered terrace for outdoor dining and BBQing. It sleeps four comfortably and is ideal for two couples holidaying together or for a family.

We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the future

Great position just above Fayence and walking distance into the village. In villa, all rooms connected with terrace which makes outdoor living so easy. Villa itself a bit tired but with all necessary facilities in good condition. We didn’t live inside at all except at night and that is possible in this villa with great outdoor space.

My wife and I needed a property suitable for my 99 yr old mother, Villa Moncalaise was suggested by Annette from Blackwood Villas and it certainly fitted the bill. The rooms were all light and airy, very comfortably furnished and all on one level. There was also a beautiful sunny terrace where we eat all our meals and enjoyed the bonus of the gas barbecue. There was a big garden with a range of seating available, a lovely swimming pool and great views over the valley below. A slightly more thorough pre-rental check by the agent would have highlighted the lack of a bath plug, malfunctioning air conditioning in one room and no TV service but when we reported these things they were dealt with promptly and the agents also kindly provided a non slip shower mat for my mother. A more detailed list of house facilities on the website would have been helpful but in practice we found everything that we needed and more, with the exception of a teapot! The manual didn’t mention the brand new ‘SuperU’ supermarket down on the main road. It was very good and provided for all the food items that we needed. A 5 minute walk into the old town boulangerie each morning provided our croissants for breakfast and there were a range of restaurants (and prices!) to choose from. Our highlight was La Pause in the square of the neighbouring village of Tourettes. Very friendly service, outstanding food and a beautiful setting with fabulous view. Fayence is a good centre for touring this part of Provence. A day trip to the stunning Gorge du Verdon was a highlight for us. Villa Moncalaise was a lovely homely place to stay and we would certainly recommend it for two couples or one couple and a relative such as we did.

Dear Anette. Had a great time. Thanks.

John and Mabel Smith.

Dear Ian & Christine,

Just a quick note to thank you for your part in giving us a wonderful week at Villa Moncalaise. It really was a perfect house for us in a beautiful setting and my mother loved every minute of the stay

Best wishes,
