Fayence is a large ‘perched village about 20Km to the west of Grasse. As the largest town in the area, the Pays de Fayence is near to the smaller towns of Callian, Montauroux, Seillans and Tourrettes.
A little history. The earliest records of the town go back to the year 909, although Roman remains have been found at the Notre-Dame-des-Cyprès. In medieval times the Saracen invasions left the town deserted, and it was not until 1391 when the nearby village of Callian was destroyed that people started to return.
Today Fayence is a very popular tourist town. There is a large Saturday market and the town features a number of bars, restaurants and shops. There are large parking areas just above the town.
